Review
I was hooked on this book from the second I picked it up. It's got all of best parts of a good supernatural book: romance, mystery, crime, and of course the paranormal. Main character Gwen Sparks tries to live a normal life, but nothing can ever be normal. Whether it's managing her magic shop or nearly getting beaned by a levitating soda can, things are definitely not normal for Gwen. Things only get worse when a fellow witch is found drained, which sets off a dangerous and exciting chain of events.
Even though this is the first of a series, the vague mentions of things in the past made it feel like there was something I should have read beforehand. Luckily, it didn't deter me from reading. In fact, seeing how things would turn out in both her everyday life and her personal life definitely drew me in to this one. I will recommend this one to anyone who loves sexy supernatural stories who is over 18, since this is one hot read.

  1. You know I'm not sure why I like paranormal reads. I love urban fantasy more than contemporary. The paranormal just extra dimension that makes things more interesting.

  2. Wow, that's a good question. I love paranormal stories but sitting here trying to put into words what draws me to them isn't easy. I think maybe it's the idea of characters that are so fascinating but yet do not really exist.

  6. Because supernatural books are so much more interesting than the e.g. the boring romance genre that almost always ends the same way.
Every Author of paranormal/urban fantasy has to twist their plot when they write about some known paranormal beings (vampires/werewolves/fae, etc.) in order to make it original. And the best books are those that has a completely new supernatural character.

  9. The ability to escape into another world is a huge part of it. There's also the fact that the main character's journey is always that much more amazing and unpredictable the more impossible things begin to happen.

  10. I enjoy paranormal reads because they aren't close to my real life, but I want them to be. I understand there are not mythical creatures outside my door or hot Angel boyfriends waiting to swoop in to rescue me when I get into trouble. But there is no problem with dreaming there was!

Reading is an escape and I paranormal reads are the best kind!
